Arbroath based Angus Housing Association (AHA) and Carnoustie developer, DJ Laing Homes, marked the latest stage in their partnership building new homes for rent when they handed over the keys to a new 3 bedroomed home in Anderson Street, Carnoustie to a delighted new tenant, Mrs Allison West.
The 6 new homes at Anderson Street, part of DJ Laing’s redevelopment of the old Carnoustie Maltings, is the fifth joint venture that the partners have built in the last 10 years, in turn delivering around 70 new affordable rented homes.
Committee Members of AHA visited the new homes after their recent AGM and the keys were handed over to Mrs West by AHA Chairman Elizabeth Whitson and DJ Laing Homes Managing Director, Karen Nicoll.
Speaking after the visit, Elizabeth Whitson said: “ Over the last 10 years, we have enjoyed a very productive working relationship with DJ Laing Homes. Without our partnership with them, it is difficult to see how the local, rented housing needs of Carnoustie could have been met. The homes that they build for us are always of the highest quality and we hope that this relationship will continue in the coming years as there are still many families in need of a quality, affordable rented home in Carnoustie. “
Karen Nicoll, Managing Director of DJ Laing Homes said: “ As we have developed many of our sites in Carnoustie in recent years, we have delivered many new affordable, rented homes, along with our housing for sale, to meet the needs identified by Angus Council in their Affordable Housing Policy. All of these have been built in conjunction with AHA and we are pleased that our partnership has contributed to ensuring the balance within Carnoustie is met between the needs of locals who need affordable homes to rent and those who are buying the homes we have built for sale.”
“All of our previous joint venture projects have been great successes and have shown what two local businesses committed to meeting the needs of their local communities can achieve.”
