Karen Nicoll | Managing Director

Bio

Karen is the company’s Managing Director. She leads and guides all decision making and implementation, including growth and operational strategy, core objectives, as well as business and financial management and planning developments for the group. 

Known for her strong work ethic, Karen is driven and focused on managing the family business to produce a quality product and service.

She is highly experienced in the property and house building sectors, adept at business management and specialises in sales and customer service.

Karen has now been with D J Laing for over 29 years, having been involved with most of the housing developments from design to completion and is now involved in the day to day running of the diverse divisions, primarily responsible for ensuring quality and high standards are maintained.

Karen has great attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills and a desire to continuously improve our products and achieve the best possible service. Qualifications include an ILM Level 5 Award in Management and CITB  Site Safety Managers’ Training.

In the community, Karen is a member of Carnoustie High School’s Developing Young Workforce Steering Group, a former member of the Carnoustie Development Group and Carnoustie Business Improvement District. She is a current Director of the Scottish Building Federation and former President of the SBF Dundee and Angus Association.
